Be it the requirement for new emission rules or crash test norms. The industry has to upgrade the models accordingly. In today’s competitive market, a car manufacturer cannot survive with the same model for years. Facelifts have to be done, certain upgrades have to be given in order to maintain the market standard. Honda BR-V
Based on the compact hatchback; Honda Brio, Honda BRV is a 7-seater MPV introduced to rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the segment leader Toyota Innova. The BRV did well for a few months after the launch but is now seeing dismal sales for the past few years. Based off some sources, Honda is even offering a discount of upto Rs.1 lakh on the existing model at selected Honda dealerships. Honda BRV’s production is expected to be shut by the year 2020.

Tata Bolt
After the launch of the phenomenal Tata Tiago, the Bolt looked like an odd fitting. Even the Tata Tigor falls in a similar price segment and has better performance and features than the Bolt. Keeping in mind, the market being taken over by the newer models, Tata has finally decided to shut the production line for the Tata Bolt. The sale numbers for the Bolt have been considerably low and no promotional campaigns can be seen for the Bolt as well. Tata has officially pulled the plug on the Tata Bolt.

Tata Safari
Yes, the SUV legend departs this year. Tata has decided to discontinue the Safari because of the new modern age highly equipped competitors. Tata is currently working on its own new age models and hasn’t signalled on any new upgrades on the Safari. Media speculations suggest that we could get a new model. Let time decide!

Hyundai Eon
In August 2018, HMIL announced that it will be discontinuing the Eon by the end of September 2019. The Eon, which was positioned conveniently in entry-level hatch segment didn’t turn the sales chart on fire. Additionally, due to the huge amount of investment required to make Eon match the crash norms required, Hyundai has now decided to put their bets on the recently launched 2018 Santro.

Fiat Linea
A very successful mid-sized sedan. Fiat launched the Linea in 2009. It was liked and appreciated by the people for its styling and features. Unfortunately, due to growing competition in the mid-sized sedan segment, the Linea seriously lagged behind in terms of value for money and modern features. Fiat tried certain upgrades and modifications but was unsuccessful. With the successful venture of the Jeep moniker, Fiat has finally decided to pull the plug on the Linea from the market.

Mahindra Nuvo Sport
Mahindra launched NuvoSport back in 2016 as an upgraded version of the Mahindra Quanto. Upon its roll-out, this car failed to impress the buyers and couldn’t do well in the market. In fact, only 1 unit has been sold nationwide in the last 6 months. As a result, Mahindra has now decided to call off its production.

Fiat Punto & Fiat Avventura
Punto was the bread and butter for Fiat in India. Unfortunately, in the last few months, the sales and demand for the Punto and the Avventura has dropped drastically. The un-appealing number doesn’t make any business sense, therefore, Fiat has decided to call off Punto and Punto based model Aventura from the market.

Volkswagen Ameo
Ameo was launched by Volkswagen in order to compete with the segment leader Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent, and Honda Amaze. Ameo proved to be a threat to Volkswagen’s own Polo and Vento sales. Rather than competing with the rivals, Ameo cannibalized its own family members’ sale. Volkswagen has decided to call off Ameo from the Indian Market.

Maruti OMNI
The Maruti OMNI brings back the memories from the 90s. A favourite amongst kidnappers (wink!). The OMNI was India’s most popular people’s carrier. But, due to the advent of the BS6 norm, the OMNI is not able to keep up the upcoming rules and regulations. Hence, Maruti isn’t planning to revamp the OMNI line-up. Bid goodbye to legend!

Maruti Gypsy
Yes! the king (Gypsy King!). By the time you get over with reading this blog post, India’s favourite 4X4 has already been phased out. Maruti Suzuki plans to replace it by the new gen Jimny, which might take a few years to arrive in India. You can still buy the last production units if you are amongst the enthusiasts. Worth a shot, we say!
