2022 MG Hector Facelift – What We Know So Far!

The MG Hector was launched in India in 2019, and was an instant hit! It won the hearts of those looking for a feature-rich SUV with some diesel power. In the last 3 years, the Hector has gone through minor changes and additions, but it hasn’t received a major facelift. Well as of July 2022, MG has officially teased the new Hector for India! Here’s what we know about the 2022 MG Hector so far.

  • Changes in design in the 2022 MG Hector

Yes, MG will definitely revamp the design of the Hector. While the details of the design are not revealed yet, you can expect a new grille, headlamps, and new taillamps! Yes, the current design of the MG Hector is good, but it is a little too boxy for some. Hopefully, MG has worked on making it sleeker and sharper!

  • New Features on the 2022 MG Hector!

This is the most exciting part! MG has officially shown off a new infotainment unit for the Hector. This one is a floating 14-inch screen, which is the biggest in any car India has ever seen! Tech has always been the selling point for MG cars, however, their functionality has not been so good. Hopefully, MG works on integrating these features in a better way and creates a smooth experience for the users. The 2022 MG Hector will also have Level-2 ADAS features, just like the Astor.

  • Engines

Engines are most likely to remain the same on the Hector since there have been no complaints about them so far. The 1.5L turbo petrol that makes 143HP and the 2L diesel that makes 170HP are still going strong. Hopefully, MG will include the option of an automatic for the diesel variant, which has been a major miss!

  • Pricing and Launch

MG might launch the new Hector during the festive season of 2022. So expect a launch anytime in the next 4-5 months. Pricing will go up, the difference might be as big as Rs. 1.5 – 2 Lakhs for top-end variants. The primary competition for the Hector will be the Tata Harrier, Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and the Jeep Compass.
