The 2023 Hyundai Verna was recently spotted testing under heavy camouflage. Though we couldn’t figure out much, two screens were definitely spotted on the inside. A twin-screen layout was once considered to be a very premium feature and was only seen on Mercedes cars. However, after the XUV700, this layout is making its way into cheaper cars. Here’s what we know about the 2023 Hyundai Verna.

Twin-screens
Yes, the highlight here is definitely the twin-screen layout. The Verna will be the only car in this segment that offers this kind of layout. Moreover, it will be the first Hyundai car in India to feature this setup. Globally, the Ioniq 6 gets a similar layout, and it looks fantastic. As for any Hyundai, the screen will be slick and easy to use, with good touch response and minimal lags. It is reported that the 2023 Kia Seltos may also feature the same twin-screen setup!

What else is new on the 2023 Hyundai Verna?
Well, a lot. The Verna is also going to get ADAS tech with features like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision mitigation. Apart from this, the Verna will also feature Hyundai’s new design language which is sleeker, sharper, and more detail-oriented. The design may be somewhat like what we have seen on the globally available 2022 Hyundai Elantra. Some elements may also be carried from the Tucson, which was recently launched in India.

Engines
Hyundai is planning to do away with the diesel engine on the 2023 Verna. It will continue with the 1.5L petrol that makes 115HP, along with a CVT and a 6-speed manual. The turbo variants are expected to go through a major upgrade. It is reported that the 2023 Hyundai Verna Turbo will in fact get the 1.4L, 140HP turbo petrol engine along with a 7-speed DCT. This is the same engine we have seen on the turbo and GT models of the Creta and the Seltos. The 1.4L engine will replace the smaller 1L turbo petrol that made ~120HP. With this upgrade, the Verna will be able to stand neck-to-neck with the Virtus and the Slavia. A hybrid variant was also speculated earlier. However, there’s no confirmation on this yet.

Launch
The 2023 Hyundai Verna will be revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo and will launch in India sometime next year. With the Honda City also bidding goodbye to the diesel variants, this segment will soon turn into a petrol-only segment.
The excitement around the Verna does give a lot more hope to the sedan segment in India. While the Virtus and Slavia have made some noise here, the segment simply doesn’t have enough options. This should be a good addition.
