The new-gen Maruti Gypsy or the Maruti Suzuki Jimny was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. What we saw was a 3-door version of the Jimny. It is believed that the Indian market will get the 5-door version of the Jimny. This new generation Maruti Gypsy will go on sale through the Nexa dealerships which are a chain of the premium MSI dealerships. Likely to be called the Gypsy, this car will most probably hit the dealerships by 2021.

Maruti is likely to call this one as the new generation Gypsy to attract an already existing audience who like the Gypsy more than any other 4X4 available here. The ‘Gypsy’ name is already a cult so the automaker doesn’t need to worry about how this off-roader will do in the Indian market! The new generation Maruti Gypsy will be built on the body on frame architecture. This will have new engines and styling. The styling elements will be shared from the Jimny Sierra as per what we know till now.

If the new generation Gypsy borrows the style elements from the Jimny, it is most likely to have a bold front look. It has got a big air dam, five slat grille, round headlamps, squared-off wheel arches, body-coloured ORVMs, turn indicators on wheel arches and the new set of taillamps. Inside the cabin, the Jimny gets ample legroom and headroom for all the passengers. This one gets Maruti Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
