Why did Mahindra Change the name of Be 6e to Be 6?

Mahindra’s all-new electric SUV “Be 6e’ recently faced big trouble over its name.filed a case against Mahindra to copy the name “6e”.

A little while back, Mahindra boomed up the Indian EV market by launching two unexpected electric SUVs—the Be 6e and Xev 9e. As always, Mahindra fans went crazy over these SUVs despite their being electric vehicles. Everything seemed to be going perfectly as planned by Mahindra, but this time, there was a malediction. Out of nowhere, Indigo filed a case against Mahindra for copying their registered trademark “6e”. Here’s everything in detail.

Mahindra Be 6e to Be 6What Actually is Behind the Name “Be 6e”?
So, the name “6e” is a registered trademark by Indigo Airlines(owned by InterGlobe Aviation Limited). Also, it is registered in a different section than Mahindra’s “Be 6e” which makes Indigo’s lawsuit more interesting here.

Mahindra said it has already registered the ‘BE 6e’ trademark in a different category(Class 12 Section) than the one used by IndiGo Airlines for the ‘6e’ name. Also, Mahindra’s trademark is for ‘BE 6e’, not just ‘6E’. The two categories are far different, which really makes it absurd for Indigo to sue Mahindra over the steal.

Both companies are in court to settle the issue, and the case may take some time. But till then, Mahindra won’t stop selling the Be 6e. The electric SUV will be sold with the name ‘Be 6’ instead of ‘Be 6e’ till the final decision is made.

Key Specifications of Mahindra Be 6e:

Battery Pack Options:

  • 59 kWh
  • 79 kWh

MIDC Range:

  • 59 kWh: 556 km
  • 79 kWh: 682 km
