Process of eChallan in Amritsar

  • The entire system of eChallan in Amritsar starts when you commit a transgression against the traffic rules. ANPR cameras – The heart of the eChallan system records the violation and sends it to the traffic police headquarters.
  • As soon as the ANPR camera sends the recording of the transgression to traffic police headquarters, the next step of the process starts. The second step involves identifying the vehicle’s number from the footage sent by ANPR in the first step.
  • The third step of the process begins with the identification and extraction of vehicle numbers. It involves the extraction of the person’s identity and contact number from the RTO office or Sarthi Apps. 
  • In the final step, eChallan is generated in the person’s name and sent to them via SMS or updated at the parivahan portal.

Method 1: Via IFMS Punjab

  • Search for “IFMS Punjab” on your browser.
  • Click on “Register User” to create a new account.
  • After the registration process, click on verify challan.
  • Put in the GRN number created during account creation.
  • Enter the captcha and click on the SUBMIT button.
  • You can view your challans now.

Method 2: Via Parivhan Portal

  • Search for “Parivahan Portal” on your browser.
  • Click on “Online Service” at the top side.
  • Select the eChallan option from the drop-down list.
  • Press on the “Pay online” option that will appear above.
  • Fill in details about the DL or vehicle number.
  • Enter the captcha.
  • You will see any pending challans along with violation details and fines.

How to Pay an eChallan in Amritsar?

Method 1: On the Punjab Traffic Police Website

  • Go to the official website of “Punjab Traffic Police” website.
  • Enter your email ID and the registration number of your vehicle.
  • Click on “Search” (You can also put in the challan number if you have it already)
  • After you click on “Search”, you will be taken to the payment page, where you can choose from various payment options such as debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.
  • After a successful payment, you will get a receipt. Save it for your future reference.

Method 2: On the Parivahan Portal Website

  • Search for “Parivahan Portal” on your browser.
  • Click on “Online Service” located on the top side.
  • Select the eChallan option from the drop-down list.
  • Select the “Pay online” option that will appear above.
  • Fill in the details such as challan number, DL or vehicle number.
  • Enter the captcha.
  • You will see any pending challans along with violation details and fines.
  • Select the challan you want to pay and make the eChallan payment.
  • Download the payment receipt for future purposes.

Method 3: Offline Method 

  • Visit the nearest traffic police station with essential documents – Driving license, Adhaar card, and your traffic violation challan. From there on, you can pay your challan directly in cash or UPI. 
  • Another way for you is to find a traffic police, with a challan machine. Show them your challan details, identity proof, and your driving licence, and you can pay your challan.
  • For those who are incapable of visiting in person, you can send a Demand Draft or Cheque to the Traffic Police Headquarters along with your challan details for processing.

Follow these Rules and Regulations to Avoid eChallan in Amritsar

  • The most important rule is to wear a seatbelt when operating a four-wheeler and a helmet when operating a two-wheeler.
  • In addition to being against the law, driving after intoxication is severely forbidden because it could injure both you and an innocent person.
  • Reduce your speed in crowded places, particularly those close to schools, temples, intersections, and pedestrian crossings.
  • Smoking is not permitted in cars with pregnant women or children under the age of sixteen.
  • When you stop at a red light, do so ahead of the pedestrian crossing line rather than on it.
  • Only park in areas that are authorized.
  • Overtake from the right and drive on the left side of the road.
  • While changing lanes, you must give proper indication beforehand. Use indicators and hand signals if needed.
  • Riding with more than three people is prohibited in four-wheelers unless they are not wearing seatbelts, and in the case of two-wheelers, two people at max (including the driver).
  • Always give space to emergency vehicles such as fire brigades, an ambulance or a police car.
