Nissan has talked about its upcoming lineup of electric vehicles (EV) comprising the next-generation Leaf and the all-new Micra. Let’s get into the features, battery options, and design of both the Micra and Leaf EVs.

Nissan Micra EV: A Fresh Take on an Iconic Hatchback

The Nissan Micra of the fifth generation makes a huge leap from the traditional combustion engine to a fully electric vehicle. Bigger battery ranges promise an excess of 400 km on one charge. While no figures regarding power or torque have been published by Nissan, the range is presumably to be tailored to urban drivers who need a city-based electric car.

Platform and Manufacture

Platform and Manufacture

The platform of the Micra EV is the CMF-BEV and shares the cost with the Renault 5, due to the Nissan-Renault alliance. Production of the Micra EV will be done in France, which is a strong statement on Nissan’s quest to expand its EV market across Europe.

Design and Features

Design and Features

Most of the Micra EV’s design is maintained from the earlier 20-23 EV Concept, specifically the circular LED headlights resembling the Nissan logo. Silver will be used to trim the front bumper, as opposed to the wide illuminated strip on the concept, and flatter, more practical wheels replace the angular ones. There is now a gloss-black cladding running along the wheel arches, and traditional side mirrors replace the slim ones of the concept.

Battery and Range

The Micra EV’s larger 52kWh battery boasts an impressive range of over 400 km, making it perfect for everyday city commuting and a bit of light long-distance traveling. The smaller 40 kWh choice is an option for people looking to minimize initial investment with much shorter driving needs.

Nissan Leaf EV: A High-Range Electric Possibility

Nissan Leaf has gotten a major facelift, one of the most-famous electric vehicles in the world. On the third-generation version of the Leaf, with the driving range chalked out to have a figure of over 598 kilometers on a single charge, considerably enhancing the viability of this option for those who need extended highway or inter-city travel without having to worry about a charging station.
