JSW MG Motor India has experienced continuous growth in the Indian electric vehicle and sport utility vehicle markets since the MG Windsor EV launch. The company plans to develop its current success by introducing two new sport utility vehicles to the Indian market. JSW MG Motor has established a partnership with Chery Automobile, which operates as one of China’s biggest automotive manufacturers that controls several vehicle brands. The partnership will enable India to introduce two new vehicles which include the Jetour T2 hybrid SUV and the retro-styled Chery iCar V23 electric SUV.

1. Jetour T2 Hybrid: Large SUV With Plug-In Hybrid Power

The Jetour T2 Hybrid will serve as the first vehicle which manufacturers plan to launch. Reports indicate that the vehicle will first appear in India during the third quarter of this year which manufacturers intend to produce at JSW’s new greenfield facility located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
Size & Positioning
The Jetour T2 will be a large monocoque SUV with dimensions that show it has a length of 4.7 metres, a width of 2 metres and a wheelbase measurement close to 2.8 metres. The vehicle exceeds Tata Safari dimensions which places it within the premium vehicle market. The T2 offers international markets two seating options which include a 5-seat and a 7-seat configuration. The India market has not yet confirmed which seating configuration will be made available to customers.
Design
The T2 presents a boxy-upright design which creates an appearance that combines ruggedness with modern style. The vehicle combines SUV lifestyle design elements with high-end dimensions to attract customers who desire both street visibility and functional use.
Powertrain Details
The Indian version is expected to receive the i-DM plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Indian market will only receive the hybrid system while international markets will have access to internal combustion engine products. The vehicle will use a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which will generate 154 bhp and 220 Nm from the petrol engine and two front-mounted electric motors. The two systems will produce combined output of 221 bhp and 390 Nm of torque. The SUV will also come with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, which delivers an electric driving range of 139 kilometers according to the NEDC testing standard. This vehicle operates as an electric vehicle for short urban trips while maintaining petrol engine capability for extended travel.
Expected Price
The Jetour T2 Hybrid will enter the market with a price of approximately Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), which positions it against premium SUVs found in that market category.
2. Chery iCar V23: Retro-Modern Electric SUV

The Chery iCar V23 electric SUV marks the second SUV which India plans to release because it has already been spotted testing at the ARAI facility in Pune which indicates that India launch plans are progressing.
Dimensions & Segment
The iCar V23 has the following measurements, which establish its total length as 4220 millimeters, its width as 1915 millimeters, its height as 1845 millimeters, and its wheelbase as 2730 millimeters. The vehicle dimensions show that it has a slightly smaller size than the Tata Sierra EV and Hyundai Creta Electric while its footprint matches the dimensions of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The system may compete with the upcoming electric Mahindra Thar EV which will enter the market soon.
Design Details
The iCar V23 has an appearance that combines different design elements from various time periods. The vehicle takes its design elements from traditional SUVs which include the Toyota Land Cruiser J40. The primary design features of the product include Round LED headlamps Double-layer parallel LED DRLs Uplight boxy front fascia Flared wheel arches Wide fender flares Pull-type door handles External rear-mounted storage box. The vehicle provides 205 to 210 millimeter ground clearance together with its strong approach and departure angles which demonstrate its ability to handle off-road situations.

Interior & Features
The Chery iCar V23 interior space displays a modern electric vehicle design which uses basic elements to create a contemporary aesthetic. The cabin features a flat, layered dashboard that gives it a neat and uncluttered appearance. The center of the room contains a large floating touchscreen that serves as the main control center for all functions. The system shows all essential driving data through its primary display without needing a standard driver display. The SUV also gets a simple three-spoke steering wheel that adds to its contemporary feel.
In terms of safety and technology, the iCar V23 is expected to come equipped with ADAS features, including automatic emergency braking, lane assist, and hill start assist. These additions position it as a tech-focused lifestyle electric SUV built for modern drivers.
Battery & Performance Options
Internationally, the iCar V23 is offered with two battery packs:

The range performance of the product in India will change after testing occurs in Indian environmental conditions.

The collaboration between JSW MG Motor and Chery will enable MG to increase its product offerings. The strategy appears clear:

Launch Timeline
The official launch dates have not been announced yet, but the following information exists Jetour T2 Hybrid will launch in Q3 of this year. The Chery iCar V23 in India will launch after it completes homologation and certification. Both SUVs will launch within the upcoming 12 to 18 months if testing progresses without any issues.

The success of their Windsor EV project has not caused JSW MG Motor to slow down its operations. The brand plans to launch two upcoming vehicles which will allow them to enter two different emerging markets that include premium hybrid SUVs and lifestyle electric off-road vehicles.
