Renault Duster Set for India Comeback on March 17, 2026

The third-generation Duster will launch on March 17th 2026, to reintroduce the classic Duster model which Renault created for the Indian market. The SUV returned to the market on January 26th 2026, after its production stopped in 2022. The Duster serves as the main SUV for Renault because it first established the company’s presence in India’s midsize SUV market.

The delivery of display and demonstration equipment to dealerships across the country has begun, allowing customer delivery operations to commence in April 2026. The product launch from Renault which allows customers to pre-book at Rs.21000, will help the company regain its market position in one of India’s most competitive business sectors.

Renault Duster: Engine Options

The 2026 Renault Duster will offer customers multiple engine options, which include two turbo-petrol engines and a strong hybrid powertrain.

  1. The 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol engine (TCe 100) which produces 100 bhp and 160 Nm of torque traces its development back to the Renault Kiger. The system operates through a 6-speed manual transmission system. The system provides a budget-friendly choice that meets the requirements of customers who want to purchase their first Duster mod
  1. 1.3-litre Turbo Petrol (Turbo TCe 160) The stronger turbo-petrol engine produces 163 bhp while generating 280 Nm of torque which establishes it as one of the most powerful engines in its category. The system provides users with two transmission options a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic DCT system. Renault claims this engine provides the highest power output in its particular market segment.
  2. 1.8-litre Strong Hybrid (E-Tech 160) The strong hybrid powertrain functions as the most important component of the product range. The system operates through a combination of a 1.8-litre petrol engine and two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The system generates a total power output of 160 bhp with 172 Nm of torque. One motor generates electricity while the second motor provides power to the vehicle’s wheels.

The hybrid battery system used in this product has a capacity that exceeds double the capacity of the batteries used by competing products such as the Toyota Hyryder and the Maruti Grand Vitara which utilize 0.76 kWh batteries. The hybrid variant is expected to arrive closer to Diwali 2026.
