BS6 Cars will get a new Green Identification Strip

According to a new order issued by The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, all new BS6 cars sold in India will have a 1cm-thick green-coloured strip which will be marked on the existing third registration sticker. This green-coloured strip will be considered as their new identification mark.

This move has been taken by the Indian Government to differentiate between BS6 compliant vehicles from the older emission vehicles. According to an official from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways who in an interview told PTI (Press Trust of India) that ministry has been receiving requests for a unique identification mark for all for BS6 compliant vehicles in India, as well as many countries across the globe, follow the same procedure of marking each vehicle with a unique form of identification according to their emission norms. He also added, “Accordingly, a feature in form of a unique strip of green colour of 1 cm wide on top of the existing third registration sticker for the purpose of BS-VI vehicles of any fuel type i.e. for petrol or CNG, which have a light blue colour sticker and a diesel vehicle which is of orange colour sticker — will have a green strip of 1 CM on top has been mandated.” Source

This new order also states that the all-new the BS6 vehicles sold will need to have a will have a 1 cm green strip (Unique identification mark) which will be placed at the top of the third registration plate

So an HSRP is your third registration plate which is basically a chromium hologram sticker which is placed on the bottom-left corner of the windshield, this sticker holds the information regarding the designated RTO, your vehicle registration number and two, 10-digit laser branded permanent identification numbers (PINs) corresponding to each of the plates.

It also features the vehicle chassis number for easier identification of the vehicles in case of vehicle theft. This sticker also has a colour-code which defines the fuel type of the designated vehicle.

Both Petrol and CNG cars get affixed have a light-blue background on the third registration sticker while diesel vehicles are identified by their orange sticker after registration.
