Its time for you to up your game! You ask why? Well, you might be aware that a few months back the government pushed a notification which mandated the use of HSRP (High-Security Registration Plates) to curb the ever-increasing cases of vehicle theft.

The process for booking an HSRP used to be a pretty hefty task, as it involved uploading a ton of documents before getting to book the HSRP or a Colour-coded sticker. This long process was recently bought to only 5 easy steps by the Delhi Government.

How has the process of booking an HSRP or a Colour Coded Sticker simplified?

  • According to Rosmerta Safety System, the vendor who runs bookmyhsrp.com said, that there is no need to upload a scanned copy of the RC anymore.
  • Moreover, the previous seven-step online booking process has been narrowed down to just 5.
  • The process of the OTP (One Time Password) has also been removed.
  • The process to upload copies of vehicle registration certificates have also been removed.

What is an HSRP?

  • So, an HSRP is your third registration plate which has a chromium hologram sticker which is placed on the bottom-left corner of the windshield, this plate holds the information regarding the designated RTO, your vehicle registration number and two, 10-digit laser branded permanent identification numbers (PINs) corresponding to each of the plates.
  • It also features the vehicle chassis number for easier identification of the vehicles in case of vehicle theft.

  • You can book your slot through bookmyhsrp.com if you reside in Delhi or Uttar Pradesh. But if the vehicle is registered from Haryana, here is the link.

  • The first step includes picking up your vehicle type, followed by the designated vehicle’s brand.
  • You can select the nearest dealer according to your convenience.

  • You also need to enter your vehicle registration number, date of registration, chassis number, engine number, email ID and mobile number before making the payment.

What is Colour-Coded Sticker (3rd HSRP Sticker)?

  • The colour-coded sticker is the 3rd HSRP stickers which are placed on the left side of the windshield of your car and feature the vehicles- engine number, chassis number, plate number etc.
  • However, according to the new update, these stickers will be colour coded according to the vehicles fuel type as well.
  • The colour-codes are meant to identify vehicles based upon their fuel types- light-Blue for petrol and CNG vehicles and Orange for diesel vehicles.

Why has the use of HSRP and Colour Coded Stickers being mandated?

  • The use of HSRP has been made mandatory to curb the increasing number of vehicle theft, traffic violations and corruption.
  • On the other, the use of Colour-coded sticker will help law enforcement officers to run usual traffic stops smoothly.

When is the new rule coming into effect and what are the Penalties for not abiding by the new rule??

  • So, if you still have this question in your mind than its time for you to up your game as the use of HSRPs has already been mandated Pan-India.
  • However, the new rule for colour coded stickers will come into effect after the round of awareness drives have been conducted, giving ample time to people to get their documents.
  • We can expect the implementation of the new rule to begin from October 2020.
  • The fine for not having these documents will range anywhere between ₹5,000-₹10,000.

  • This is a laser alphanumeric code of minimum 9 digits, etched in the bottom left hand below the Ashok Chakra.

  • So, an HSRP has a special reflective coating on the surface which is even visible in the lowest of light (e.g. at night).
  • Whereas, a generic custom made Non-HSRP number plate isn’t reflective, which makes it difficult for the traffic cameras to detect.

  2. Every time I fill the contents for stickers it shows that i do not have HSRP whereas my number plate is HSRP. what should I do?

    • Hey Ashish,

      The state transport deptt. has temporarily suspended the enforcement drive against vehicles without HSRP. A proper process and protocol are being put into place. The transport authority is currently working on fixing the glitches.

      After a lot of research, we found out that The Front laser plate is the one which in the front bumper of the vehicle and the Rear Laser plate is the one which is on the rear of the vehicle. Stay Pinned! 🙂

  25. Hi I have tried to filling the form on bookmyhsrp.com for High security vehicle sticker request. I have filled all correct details but it was giving me error that ” Kindly update details from your registration certificate (vehicle number)” Also I have tried to enter last 5 digit Chassis number as well Engine No. still getting the same error. It may be an issue with website, I have also found many feedback on the Social media regarding same error. Today I have talked to Delhi traffic police they said if do not have sticker then do not drive your vehicle. there is no any solution for commercial vehicle.

    • I am getting the same error while trying to order colour coded sticker. I have already sent an email to bookmyhsrp and a follow up email to grievance but they have not responded yet. I have been waiting for resolution for about 2 weeks now.
      Today, I spoke to them again and the gentleman told me that the error is due to RC details not updated in their system and I should visit RTO office. I replied politely that it should be taken care by Rosmerta as they should ensure the details are updated in their system but the gentleman hung up on me.

      I don’t think that customers should be harassed by asking them to visit RTO office during this pandemic when the issue is between Rosmerta and RTO systems. Rosmerta and RTO should talk on this problem and resolve it.

      • Here’s an update:
        I visited the RTO and met a senior person there. I have been told that the issue is under investigation and will be sorted soon by Rosmerta and there are a lot of people facing the same issue.

        Also, I have received an email from Rosmerta having a ticket number with a TAT to resolve it within 48 hour.

        I hope they will resolve the issue soon.
        Meanwhile, I suggest you raise your concern by sending an email to them.

    Hi. My dealer only gave me the HSRP without the colour coded sticker in June 2020. Now he is saying he can’t help me with getting the sticker.
    I am trying to apply it on bookmyhsrp however upon entering my reg. No. it’s giving me a message stating “already registered”. I am able to generate an OTP however it’s not giving me an option to enter the OTP due to my vehicle being already registered. NOW, if I want to apply, what should I do?

  35. Hi guys , I have a query/doubt which I have been trying to clear . If the HSRP has 9 digits as PIN and 2 alphabets i.e. 11 digit alphanumeric PIN then also we have to get the new HSRP with 12 alphanumeric code ( 2 alphabet and 10 digits ) . This came from the Car OEMS . I went through the rule but I couldn’t see any such thing as earlier the 9 digits was there and now 10 and 9 digits are not valid .
    Any idea about this ?
    So simply putting if a Car is having HSRP with 9 digit (11 in total ) pin then he need just the colour coded fuel sticker ? Or he will have to get a new plate with 10 digits (12 in total ) along with sticker ?

  37. I have an i10 2017 model and looks like the number plate on it is HSRP. However, there is no laser code on both plates. Aren’t all cars after 2016 giving these HSRP ? Do I have to order the new plates or just the stickers ?

  52. I just purchased UP16 registered preowned Tata Nexon, which has registration date 25th Jun 2019. Not sure why last owner removed the HSRP sticker and now when i am trying to book Sticker from HSRP website i am not able to select dates after 31st Mar 201. I mailed HSRP customer care and they reverted that it will be done from Dealer side and when i contacted dealer he said to book online. Now i am stucked between these 2.

  53. I am trying to book a slot for my Maruti UP number. There seems to be no time slots available with any dealer. Seems like a bug in the website. Please confirm if anyone else is also facing the same issue. A couple of days back, i was able to book for my TATA same UP number without any issue.

  54. The problem of “Kindly update details from your registration certificate.” error can be solved by registration through explorer browser rather than chrome browser. I also tried it and I successfully could register my vehicle within 5 minutes. I hope this helps.

After clicking that a mail address is given for sending pics of front and rear number plates of the vehicle and also asking for Reference ID. After uploading the requisite pics, nothing is happening. Hi Guys, I have been trying to book for colour coded stickers since past few days but was unsuccessful with the message being displayed was to enter details from RC although the same were correctly filled everytime. Since today (29.12.2020) new message is flashing “Vehicle Present and you are not authorized vendor for this vehicle”.

    Completely hilarious at the same time is frustrating. I tried contacting them on 18001200201, it appears to be mischievous number as call never gets connected. Mails sent previously on earlier issue have been unresponsive till date so there is no point sending mails again.

    What is solution?

  62. I am getting an error saying ‘Kindly update details from your Registration certificate’. I downloaded mParivahan app and downloaded virtual RC from the app. In the makers name it is written ‘Others’ instead of ‘Honda’. I guess this is the underlying issue behind the error message, as the data is not correctly entered in the database of transport department, and the bookmyhsrp website is not able to tally the makers name. It would be helpful if any others facing the same problem can confirm from their respective virtual RC. There might be some mismatch between the details.

  73. I already have HSRP and it got fitted in Oct’2020. That time there was no news or option to apply for color coded sticker.
    Therefore, now I need only color coded sticker. I am trying to book only color coded sticker. So, I filled all the information, including the front and rear laser code. When I submit, it says please enter valid front laser code.
    I am entering the correct laser codes. My vehicle is UP 14 registration.
    The laser code are like BA2500624047. I have verified multiple times, the laser codes are correct as mentioned on the HSRP number plate.

    Please suggest what to do.

    • Hi Satya,

      Usually, the laser code on the rear number plate is the next number in the denomination of the laser code on the front number plate. For eg, if the last 4 digits of the laser code on the front number plate are 2160 so the last 4 digits of laser code on the rear number plate will be 2161. Also, rest all the characters including the number and alphabets will remain the same.

  93. I have twice booked online for only fuel sticker for my car (as security number plate is already affixed) . All the details were filled correctly and pictures uploaded. Both the times after a few days I received a message saying that the order has been cancelled due to Laser Data mismatch. On calling customer care they were unable to specify reason and advised to contact RTO. Can anyone suggest the reason and correct procedure to address the issue.

      On the website itself, there is a list of authorised people who are making the number plates. Request you to either visit one of them or ask your car’s dealership for help. The dealership might charge additional but will get stuff done for sure.

    if i buy the HSRP and provide my new address other than that on RC.

  119. I am getting this error: “Please input Correct Registration Number of UP State” everytime I try to register for one. The registration number is entered correctly. Please can someone tell what needs to be done to resolve this issue?

  125. While ordering new color sticker in Haryana , HSRP website saying vehicle registration date should be before 01/04/2020, but my car registration is 07/2021, so unable to get new sticker for the replaced windshield.

  127. I am trying to register an old model bike of honda which is not present in the available model list in the HSRP process. Anyone has any idea how to proceed on that.

  128. In my honda active there is only 16digits engine number but when i am trying to apply online it is saying, engine number should be 17 digits and not proceeding. What should i do ?

    Odisha government has extended to fix before 31st October 22.
