The soon-to-launch 2023 Hyundai Creta facelift has scored a whooping 5-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. Although, it is a well-known fact that the ASEAN NCAP is one of the easiest to crack.
The test mule is of Indonesian origin and is sold in countries like Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Although, it’s a bit hard to digest that the current gen Creta sold in India had scored 3-star safety in the Global NCAP, which is one of the strictest crash tests.
While the Creta facelift underpins the same specifications, apart from some minor cosmetic upgrades everything remains the same.
- During the safety test, the Hyundai Creta facelift scored 27.78 points in Adult safety.
- While in child safety the Creta scored 39.67 points out of 51
- The Indonesian test mule tested at the ASEAN NCAP comes with dual airbags as standard, while the curtain airbags come as optional and are mostly reserved for top variants.
- Although, it completely misses out on the knee airbags. Compensating the knee airbags we do get to see seat belt pre-tensioner and load limiter standard across all variants.
- The test conducted on the Creta included effective braking and avoidance, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, and advanced safety assist technologies.
