Hyundai’s Line-Up Of Engine Explained | Power Within

No matter how good a vehicle is, its true success will always depends on what drives it. This is the reason why Hyundai Motors is one of India’s leading OEMs. And a large share of Hyundai’s success in India goes to its brilliant line-up of engines. So here are HMIL’s brilliant engines explained.

Superior Performance and High Efficiency: The Diesel Frontrunners

For over two decades, HMIL has been developing futuristic powertrain technologies in India. Driven by the goal of creating engines that offer superior performance, cleaner emission, and high efficiency, Hyundai’s CRDi line of BS6 compliant diesel engines is a pinnacle of HMIL’s R&D efforts.

Starting from the 1.5 Liters U2 CRDi (100), the engine comes equipped with a Waste Gate Turbocharger (WGT) offering high performance. The unit offers Bs6 compliance with Lean NOx Trap (LNT) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). In terms of power, the 1.2 U2 offers a maximum power of 100 PS at 4000 rpm with a peak torque of 240 Nm at 1500- 2750 rpm. The engine is quite fuel-efficient with a mileage of up to 25 kmpl. This engine features on the i20 and Venue.

Much like 1.5 liters U2 CRDi (100), the more power-packed 1.5 Liters U2 CRDi (110) engine also comes equipped with Lean NOx Trap (LNT) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) for BS6 Compliance. But what sets apart the 115 from the 110 is the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) that delivers high performance even at low speeds. The result is the fact that the 1.5 U2 (110) delivers 115 Ps of maximum power at 4000 rpm with a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1500- 2750 rpm. This engine features on the Verna, Elantra, Creta and Alcazar.
