Mahindra Vision S Interior Revealed: Diesel Auto Confirmed

Mahindra is beginning to unveil its Vision S SUV, which has remained hidden from public view under camouflage. The current spy images show multiple exterior design elements while providing partial access to the vehicle’s interior design and operational systems and engine specifications. The Mahindra Vision S project has developed into an advanced sub-4-metre SUV which combines fashionable elements with robust design and contemporary technological features based on existing information.

The Vision S vehicle provides off-road performance through its design elements which draw inspiration from rugged vehicles like the Land Rover Defender while delivering Scorpion-sized power which suits daily driving needs of common users. The diesel automatic transmission has received confirmation about its existence together with the discovery of a panoramic sunroof which exists on mid-spec vehicles thus Mahindra prepares to revolutionize the compact SUV market.

Mahindra Vision S Interior: Concept DNA Still Alive

The leaked interior images show that Mahindra has stayed largely faithful to the Vision S concept showcased earlier. The dashboard layout maintains an upright solid appearance which strengthens the SUV’s rugged design. The double trapezoidal AC vent design represents one of the most unique features which designers took from the concept to create a distinctive cabin for the vehicle that other Mahindra models do not have. The near-production test mule contains only some of the features which appeared in the concept design. The dual-screen system that connected two 12.3-inch displays together does not appear in this product. The current model uses a central touchscreen infotainment system which Mahindra covered to indicate ongoing development of both hardware and software components. The instrument cluster on this test vehicle appears to be a more conventional unit with analogue dials and a small MID in the centre. The spotted SUV cannot be classified as a high-end model because it shows features which indicate its basic design. The entire cabin design presents a modern appearance that functions effectively through its organized design system and practical design elements.

Physical Controls and Practical Touches

The Vision S cabin provides its passengers with direct physical control over both its infotainment system and its automatic climate control system. Mahindra has made a decision to retain physical switches which will help users who drive in challenging conditions because most companies now use touch controls exclusively.

The center console of the vehicle shows a design which matches the concept model through its two cup holders and automatic transmission gearbox control. The test vehicle lacks the electronic parking brake which the concept model included. This missing feature suggests that the higher trim levels will offer superior equipment which will match the complete design specifications of the initial concept.

Seating, Upholstery and Premium Expectations

The seats in the spotted Vision S test mule are finished in fabric upholstery with contrast stitching. The seats provide proper support which makes them comfortable to sit on, but the design shows mid-spec trim limitations. Higher variants will include leatherette upholstery and ventilated front seating and Mahindra will also add a powered driver seat according to its focus on luxury features. Another major highlight is the panoramic sunroof, which has been confirmed through these spy shots. The sunroof glass extends from the front seats toward the rear headrests, creating a segment-leading glass area. Mahindra will provide this feature on mid-spec variants according to its current plan because it will be available on all trim levels except for the highest-end option.

Rear Seat Space and Family-Friendly Features

The Vision S sub-4-metre SUV demonstrates its commitment to rear-seat comfort through its design. The spy images reveal three adjustable headrests for rear passengers, along with a 60:40 split rear bench. The rear centre armrest helps passengers to experience greater comfort during extended travel.

The cabin design provides ample headspace and creates an open atmosphere through its boxy exterior and straight vertical roof configuration. The Vision S offers better space management than most of its compact SUV competitors although three adult passengers might find the vehicle’s width to be insufficient.

Mahindra Vision S Exterior: Bold, Boxy and Muscular

The Vision S presents a powerful street appearance through its solid exterior design which follows traditional SUV design principles. The front fascia displays a large grille which contains thick vertical slats that lead to circular LED headlights equipped with LED DRLs which resemble the Thar ROXX design. The SUV presents a strong exterior face which creates a visual distinction between it and the more gentle-looking urban crossovers.

The air dam at the base of the vehicle features a broad design which enhances the vehicle’s powerful appearance. The Vision S presents a boxy design which becomes more evident through its thick wheel arch cladding and its 18-inch alloy wheels. The SUV showcases a combination of elements that establish its solid and powerful presence.

The vertical LED tail lamps which are stacked at the back together with the spare wheel which is mounted on the tailgate create the appearance of a lifestyle SUV. The design choice creates an attractive visual effect which provides a visual indication of the vehicle’s ability to drive on unpaved surfaces although the Vision S was developed to operate mainly in city environments and on highways.

Mahindra Vision S Diesel Automatic A Big USP

The latest spy shots reveal two important details about the vehicle which show that it will use a diesel automatic powertrain when it goes into production. The presence of an AdBlue filler cap next to the fuel filler confirms that the SUV is powered by a BS6 Phase-2 compliant diesel engine. The automatic gear lever inside the vehicle provides additional proof for this matter.

The sub-4m SUV segment lacks diesel-automatic combinations which makes this feature a potential unique selling point for Mahindra. The diesel engine will use a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine which produces 115 bhp and 300 Nm of torque based on the XUV 3XO and entry-level Thar variants.

The company plans to offer petrol engines at the initial product launch which will probably include Mahindra’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engines that feature various tuning options. The different variants of the car will offer three transmission options which include manual, AMT and proper automatic.

Platform, Safety and Technology Outlook

The Vision S will be based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which is designed to support petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. The platform enables all-wheel drive implementation but Mahindra has not yet confirmed whether this feature will be included in the Vision S model. Mahindra should deliver strong safety ratings because this company has established its current record as their standard. Multiple airbags electronic stability control and higher trim models with advanced driver assistance systems will enter the Vision S package, which enables the vehicle to compete against Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Expected Launch Timeline and Pricing

Mahindra has already confirmed that SUVs based on the NU_IQ platform will start arriving by 2027, and the Vision S is expected to be the first among them. The SUV will send its initial market entry through display at early 2027 which will show its pricing that has been calculated to attract customers. The on-road prices will vary from ₹9 lakh to ₹18 lakh based on the selected vehicle variant and powertrain system. The future of the Vision S requires clarification because it currently remains undecided whether it will operate side-by-side with the XUV 3XO or take its place as a substitute.

Final Thoughts

The Mahindra Vision S emerges as a daring and distinct product that will operate within the sub-4m SUV market. The vehicle attracts buyers who prefer a lifestyle-oriented option instead of typical compact SUVs through its sturdy design, diesel automatic transmission, panoramic sunroof, and high-end interior features. The Vision S will become a major topic of discussion in its market segment if Mahindra establishes proper pricing and variant planning for the vehicle.
