The Mahindra XEV 9e has secured a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP’s crash tests. The Mahindra XEV 9e was awarded a full 32/32 points for Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP) and 45/49 points for Child Occupancy Protection (COP).

Mahindra XEV 9e Tested Model and Price
The model tested by Bharat NCAP is the top-spec Mahindra XEV 9e Pack Three which has a 79kWh battery, but the 5-star rating is applicable to all four variants. Mahindra had revealed prices for the base XEV 9e Pack One (Rs 21.90 lakh) last year and of the top-spec Pack Three (Rs 30.50 lakh) recently. But it is yet to announce prices for Pack Two 59 kWh and Pack Three 59 kWh.
Mahindra XEV 9e Adult Occupancy Protection
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test Mahindra XEV 9e secured 15.97 out of 16.00. It was established that good protection was provided for the head, neck, chest, knees, and feet area of both the driver and the passenger. But in the case of Tibias, it was seen that good protection was given to both the Tibias of the passenger and to the driver’s left Tibia, while the right Tibia of the driver was adequately protected.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, Mahindra XEV 9e secured 16.00 out of 16.00. It was found that good protection was given to the driver’s every part.
Mahindra XEV 9e Child Occupancy Protection
In the case of Child Occupancy Protection, Mahindra XEV 9e secured 45.00 out of 49.00.
- 24/24 in the dynamic test
- 12/12 in the CRS installation assessment
- 9/13 on the vehicle assessment.

Mahindra XEV 9e Safety Features
While the entry-level Pack One comes with 6 airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear disc brakes, a rear camera, tire pressure monitor, driver drowsiness detection system, and auto headlights and wipers, the top-spec gets safety kit such as 7 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite that includes a self-parking function, a 360-degree camera, and blind spot monitoring.
Interestingly, the XEV 9e has received marginally higher scores than the brand’s other born EV, the Mahindra BE 6, although even that has received a 5-star rating from BNCAP.

Even though in terms of safety XEV 9e has won the race, it has some rivals in terms of power such as BYD Atto 3 and BYD eMax 7.
