In October 1982, Suzuki, a Japanese automaker, and Maruti Udyog Limited amalgamated. The business planned on establishing a manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana, in the same year. As a result of the joint venture between Maruti and Suzuki, the business was granted permission to import 40,000 completely assembled Suzuki cars from Japan over the course of the first two years. Thereafter, the business planned to use only roughly 33% of domestically produced goods.
Also, initially, most of the cars were imported from Japan, but after the inauguration of the manufacturing plant, things changed.
Industrialization In the Right Direction
Well, Maruti Suzuki was among the first companies to industrialize Gurgaon (Gurugram). Next, because of the Maruti Suzuki plant, the change attracted thousands of migrant workers from all across India looking for opportunities in various businesses, whether they were contract employees in textile factories and mills or call centre agents. Maruti Suzuki (automobiles), Hero Honda (scooters), Honda Motor Cycle and Scooter India are the leading firms in the automotive industry that have a manufacturing facility in or just on the border or Gurgaon. Due to this plethora of small companies and suppliers for these companies started establishing their grounds in the city.

Speaking of the suppliers, Maruti Suzuki is connected to several international suppliers, primarily Japanese firms like Delphi, Bosch, and others. Most of the work for second and third-tier suppliers and metal sheets is completed at workshops in Faridabad, an industrial city located about 40 kilometres to the east of Gurgaon.
This led to the development of a new smart and advanced city Gurugram (Gurgaon). Now, Gurugram is home to big consulting firms, tech firms, and others.
