The other Indian carmaker to offer a bunch of petrol engine is Mahindra and Mahindra. Like Tata, Mahindra too was not known for making petrol engines but here we are. Last year at the auto expo Mahindra showcased 3 turbo petrol mStallion engines.
So, as of now, the 2.0-litre is the most powerful that is currently in production. Speaking of which, this 2.0- litre is capable of producing peak power of 150hp and 300Nm of peak torque. The engine comes with the recently launched Mahindra Thar.

Maruti Suzuki 1.5-litre K15B (103hp, 138Nm)
India’s favourite car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is not known for having powerful engines in the domestic market. But not to forget, cars like the Grand Vitara, Kizashi and S-Cross DDiS did come with really powerful engines.

Keeping those aside, as of now the most powerful engine in Maruti Suzuki’s arsenal is the 1.5-litre K15B. This engine produces a maximum power of about 103bhp and the peak torque sits at 138Nm. So, Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and S-Cross are the cars that come mated with this engine.

The Japanese carmaker Toyota has limited vehicles in India that they can truly call research and developed by Toyota. And among those 3 vehicles, one is almost ready to sail away from the Indian market. Now, we left with two vehicles, Innova and Fortuner.

Honda 1.5-litre i-VTEC (119hp, 145Nm)
The Japanese people are known for making some of the most refined engines in the entire world with Honda being the top contender. Honda in India did have some powerful engine unit at the starting of this year. But as the days passed, the Civic and CR-V were discontinued and so were the two powerful engines in them.

Well, to most people flocking into Ford’s dealership Endeavour is the only SUV/car the company offers in India. But let me remind you, Ford is still in the game of the sub-compact SUVs and hatchbacks. That said, it is the Ford Ecosport that gets the company’s most powerful petrol engine.
Powering the Ecosport is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated motor that generates max power of 121bho and about 149Nm of pea torque. Fun fact, this 1.5-litre engine is a 3 cylinder engine and not an I4.

Skoda 2.0-litre TSI (241hp, 370Nm)
When talking power in petrol engines, how can we forget the almighty 2.0-TSI motor. If you are now aware this engine does duties in the Skoda Octavia vRS. Also, depending upon the vehicle this engine has multiple states of tunes. But the one is the vRS is among the powerful of the low.
Jumping into key specifications, here in India this engine generates a maximum power of 241bhp and a whooping 370Nm of peak torque. Also, these figures do not end there. Some motorheads get their vRS tunes and the engine can then produce power upwards of 400bhp.

Well, this engine generates a max power of 154bhp and a 254Nm basket load of torque. And this engine displaces just 1.3-litres.
