After a long time awaited since presenting at EICMA last year, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin has finally made its way to India. With prices starting at ₹3.37 lakh, it promises to combine the best of Classic charm with that of a 650cc engine. Here is all that you need to know.
Engine and Performance
Classic 650 Twin uses the same 648cc twin-cylinder engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. It produces 47 hp and 52.3 Nm of torque for smooth city commutes and highway cruises. At 243 kg, it is by far the heaviest motorcycle in the Royal Enfield lineup, but one shall argue that this weight does improve comfort and road manners.
Design and Features
The Classic 650 Twin represents the retro design philosophy of the Classic series, with some components such as the switchgear and wheel hubs chromed. Finally, some modern convenience elements include the versatility of a digi-analogue display, Tripper navigation, and USB charging. And to further enhance ease of use, the Classic 650 Twin has been provided with a slip-assist clutch for easier gear uphill-downshift, especially at low speeds.
Suspension and Wheels
While the Classic 650 offers a 43mm telescopic fork with 120mm front travel and twin rear shocks with 90mm back travel, it also gives the rider a wonderful balance of style, build quality, fit finish, and riding enjoyment. Outfitted with tube-type NyloHigh tyres developed with MRF, the bike shares its tube-spoke wire wheel sizes of 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. And this makes for pure comfort against its own added weight.
