After the Koreans, it’s time for the Germans to enter the CNG game. A few days back a test mule of the Hyundai Creta Turbo CNG was spied on during its ARAI emission testing in India and now a Skoda Kushaq has been spotted testing with the same emission kit.
It was Skoda’s previous Marketing head, Zac Hollis who had hinted that there could be a CNG variant to the Kushaq when a recently launched Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo was spotted with a CNG testing kit.
Although, no one could imagine that carmakers in India would become so inclined toward what carmakers refer to as the Indian Bi-Fuel (Petorl+CNG).
- The test mule spotted was supposedly being tested by ARAI for emission testing before heading to its full-scale production.
- It is expected to feature its 1.0-Litre TSI engine which will be decked with a stock CNG kit.
- We can expect it to be priced almost ₹1 Lakh above its ICE cousin.
- Although, Skoda already has a line-up of actual Bi-Fuel cars reserved for its European audience.
- Moreover, It will also be the safest compact stock CNG SUV with a 5-star GNCAP safety rating.
- Reports also suggest that there will also be separate ECU units for the CNG variants.
- Following the footsteps of the Kushaq, we can expect to see the VW Virtus, Taigun, and Skoda Slavia with a stock CNG option.
- However, till now there’s only one compact SUV that offers a stock CNG option, The Toyota Hyryder, which could turn out to be a tough nut to crack against all the future compact SUVs with a stock CNG option.
