Tata Harrier Petrol Variant Arriving Soon. Will Be More Powerful!

Tata Harrier will soon arrive in India in the petrol version. Now we know that Tata will bring this car to the Indian market somewhere near the festive season. They expect the new model to give the sales the much-required push. Under the hood, the SUV will have Tata’s new 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine. FYI, the same engine powers the Tata Nexon petrol. The Harrier petrol will churn out 150hp!

“We’ve always had the four-cylinder version of this engine in mind, and with 65-70 per cent of Nexon sales now going to petrol, this is the next step”. The SUV will get a new set of customers and the petrol engine will, therefore, open new horizons for the SUV in the Indian market. The Tata Harrier currently rivals the MG Hector and the Kia Seltos. If we have a look at the sale numbers, we can easily make out that more than 50% of the sale number was because of the petrol engine.

Initially, Tata launched the Harrier in India in a diesel manual version and now they have also launched an automatic version of the SUV to give the sales a slight push. They expect that the upcoming petrol engine will be beneficial as people are now shifting away from diesel due to the strict emission norms coming in.

Tata Harrier will also have the automatic variant in the petrol engine lineup. Moreover, Tata is already working towards the launch of the 7-seater Gravitas which will launch in India at the same time. The electrified hybrid version of the Harrier is also on cards but there is no confirmation as of now. The Harrier currently rivals the MG Hector and the Jeep Compass. Mahindra is also working on the XUV 500’s mStallion engine which will heat up the competition in terms of power.
