Tata Safari, an SUV that has been known to introduce the masses to the world of offroading. The ones who remember the phrase, ‘Don’t ask the way from a Safari owner’ very well know what I am talking about. Telco launched the first generation of Tata Safari back in 1998. But we have already been through the ages of the SUV. Missed it? Click here. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the Limited Edition Tata Safari which was launched in 2003.
What was so special about the Limited Edition?
Telco launched this Safari with 600 units production limit. Tata also exported 150 units to Sri Lanka for the government officials. The Tata Safari Limited Edition 2003 was meant to be a lifestyle statement with everything: Road Comfort, Style and Entertainment. Let’s take a look at what all was offered:

- A Sony PlayStation. Yes, you read that right! Sony PS2 came fitted from the factory in this limited edition SUV. It also doubled up as a DVD player. Long rides? No issues as long as the driver does not start playing along with the passengers!
- Tata installed a fridge inside the Safari. Again, you read that right! A fridge that could double up as a warmer. Pune-based Tropical Cool Gadgets (TCG) sourced 1.2-litre refrigerator-cum-warmer is what the Safari came with.
Tata Safari 2003 Limited Edition LCD Screens - Integrated LCD monitors on the front headrest. This Safari is full-on entertainment.
- 10 Audio and Video changer for more entertainment with a 5-speaker sound system.
- Reverse guide system with a 130-degree view from the rear camera.
Telco offered these features as standard with the limited edition Safari.
