We are more than halfway into the year and the Indian automotive industry has done better than a year ago. On top, is Maruti Suzuki with 6 cars in the top 10 best-selling cars, 2 are from Hyundai and 2 from Tata.

1. Maruti Suzuki WagonR – 22,588
   

   

   On the top of the podium is yet again, Maruti Suzuki WagonR with 22,588 units sold in July. Although the sales numbers are marginally more than the year before (22,836 units in 2021) there is no car that is still even close.

2. Maruti Suzuki Baleno – 17,960
   
   

   Next on the list, is another Maruti Suzuki. Taking the first runner’s up spot is the recently updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In July 2022, the company sold 17,960 units of Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the country.

   That it is a year-on-year increase of 21.94%, as 14,729 units were sold last year. The company launched the net generation of Baleno in February 2022 and gave it some of the first-in-class features including, a 360-degree camera, Heads-up Display, and more.

3. Maruti Suzuki Swift 17,539
   

   

   Following Maruti Suzuki, we have another Maruti. Finishing the podium places is yet another vehicle from Maruti Suzuki, the Swift. The company in July 2022, sold 17,539 units of Maruti Suzuki Swift registering a marginal decrease in sales when compared to July 2021.

4. Tata Nexon – 14,214
   

   

   Next up, also is the best-selling car in its company’s line-up, Tata Nexon. The Indian car manufacturer Tata sold 14,214 units of Nexon in July 2022, which is 38.17% higher than what the company sold in July 2021 (10,287 units).

5. Maruti Suzuki Dzire – 13,747

   Also, it has been a while since Maruti Suzuki updated its compact sedan. Additionally, in the top 25 cars sold in the country in July 2022, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the only sedan. Well, guess people are still shifting to SUVs.

6. Maruti Suzuki Eeco – 13,048
   

   

   The Indian automotive giant is for real, taking the 6th spot is another Maruti Suzuki. This time, last month in 2022, Maruti Suzuki sold 13,048 units of Eeco in the country.

   By far, since its launch, Hyundai Creta has been among the best-selling cars in the brand portfolio. That said, in July 2022, the story continues and Hyundai sold, 12,625 units of Creta 2.88% lower than July 2021 (13,000).

   Well, Hyundai Creta is feature packed and was launched back in 2020. Since then the vehicle is in a dire need of a generation change. Which the company might launch sometime in 2022 or in 2023.

8. Hyundai Venue  – 12,000
   

   

   The Indian carmaker market is crazy for SUVs, the other best-selling car from Hyundai is the Venue. Last month, Hyundai recorded a sale of 12,000 units of Venues in the country. The update in June 2022 boosted the sales number by a whopping 46.61% when compared to last year July.
