Toyota Plans to discontinue the Etios Range by April 2020

With the BS6 emission norms about to step in, many carmakers have started reviewing the last 1-year’s sales report for many of there products with one such manufacturer being Toyota who is set to discontinue its entry-level range of the Etios which consists of the Etios premium, Etios Liva and the Etios Cross.

According to recent media reports, Toyota won’t be updating any of the 3 given engine options on all of the Etios range. As of now the Etios Platinum and the Cross comes with a 1.4-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 67hp with 170Nm fo torque and 88hp with 132Nm of torque respectively. Both the engines come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, the Etios Liva and the Cross feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine pushing the maximum power output to 78hp with 104Nm of torque along with a 1.4-litre diesel engine.

Apart from the upcoming BS6 emission norms, low sales ratio for all of the above-mentioned cars can also be considered as one of the major reason for Toyota to discontinue these models.

Out of all the outgoing models the Etios sedan turned out to be the only popular model and that to was due to its popularity in the commercial sector. However, Toyota has not announced anything officially. Apart from the Etios trio, we can also expect Toyota to discontinue the Corolla Altis which create a large void in the company’s line-up.

Although Toyota will launch the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and the Ertiga MPV in the coming months as part of their joint venture with Maruti Suzuki.
