Vijay Mallya is known for a huge car collection! Just to let you know the liquor baron owns over 250 cars and you won’t find even a single piece that is accessible to common people! All of them are rare gems that you are not a common sight at all. Letting you know about his huge car collection in a single article won’t be justice to his rare gems. Let’s start with some of the rare finds that used to reside inside Mallya’s garage!

1990 Lamborghini Countach
This was a limited edition Lamborghini. The Italian automaker produced only 658 units of this car to mark their 25th anniversary. This was the last generation of the Countach line and Mallya owned one from 1990. Talking about the specs, it has got a four-cam V12 engine which is mounted longitudinally at the back. This car produces 273Bhp.

1913 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost
This is the 1913 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. This was purchased by Mr Vijay Mallya in the 1980s. It was first sold in Australia. It was then followed by a British and then finally Mr Mallya purchased it and kept in his collection in California, USA.

1955 Porsche 550 RS Spyder
The 550 RS Spyder was the first sports car produced by Porsche. Vijay Mallya and his car collection got this one in 1998. This car was first showcased at the 1953 Paris auto show. The 550 was low to the ground in order to be efficient for racing. It has a 1.5litre engine and produced 108hp.

1955 Mercedes 300 Gullwing
The speciality of this car is the aluminium gullwing doors. These were finished with metallic silver-grey shade and had blue leather interiors. Rudge wheels, NSL motor and Plexiglas windows per aluminium-build specifications were some of the unique things that you would spot on this rare find. FYI, this car was sold for Rs. 5.03Lakhs only in the initial days and was sold for around 9.53Cr in the modern-day auction!

1925 Sunbeam Tiger
This tiger was built by Sunbeam from Wolverhampton. It was an open-wheel race car which could be used for both circuit racing or holding a land speed record! The top speed of this car was recorded to be 245kmph and was achieved by Major Henry Segrave. The Sunbeam Tiger broke many records from 1928-1930 in its 3-year journey with the Gran Prix.

1955 Allard JR
This was the most famous sports car after World War II happened. A Steyr V8 tank engine used to power this car under the hood. The engine is mated to a 3-speed gearbox and there is a reverse gear too with a separate lever to operate it. Allard Motor Company was known to manufacture low volume cars and made only a few pieces. Talking about the JR, it was a lightweight specialist racer and was used in multiple motorsport events.

1958 Edsel Citation Convertible
The Edsel Citation Convertible was the top-of-the-line variant manufactured by Edsel. The division belonged to Ford in 1958. This top-pf-the-line model was offered as a 2-door convertible. Only 930 models of the Esdel Convertible was ever produced which made it a rare find! It was powered by a 6.7-litre, V8 that produces 345 bhp. This engine was mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.

1967 Ferrari 275 GTB
Vijay Mallya and his car collection are full of unique cars and this Ferrari 275 GTB was inside his garage because of its unique qualities only! This was the first car to have a transaxle. The 275GTB was a 2-seater gran tourer coupe and was produced between 1964 and 1966. Each cylinder of this engine produced 275hp hence this car was called as the Ferrari 275 GTB. The engine was an overhead cam 3.3litre 60degree V12.

1974 Jaguar E Type Series 3 Convertible
The third series of the Jaguar E-Type was produced from 1971-1975. It had the latest Jaguar V12 engine, a power steering and the latest braking technology present then. This car had a 5.3litre V12 which produced 273Bhp. Jaguar also offered an automatic transmission with this one. You would easily spot a 3-series if you are into vintage cars. If you are don’t, the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12 will never fail to indicate that it’s a unique 3-series model!

1966 Ferrari 365 California Spyder
The last one in our list of Vijay Mallya’s car collection for today. The Ferrari 365 California replaced the 500 superfast for 1966. It had a 4.4-litre V12 engine which was based on the 330’s 4.0 L Colombo unit but had an 81mm bore. We don’t know how much Mallya’s car fetched but according to Wikipedia, another 365 California was sold in 2005 for around US$890,000!
