Skoda Kushaq Safety Rating Global NCAP: A Deep Dive

Yet again, Skoda has proven its consideration for safety, with the Skoda Kushaq being awarded a 5-star Global NCAP rating. For many Indian customers, safety comes first in a car purchase. In this blog, we will further explain how the Kushaq performs in adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, and protection systems for pedestrians. We will also concentrate on the aspects that have made the Kushaq one of the safest compact SUVs on the market. Is Skoda Kushaq the ideal choice to meet your safety requirements? Let’s take a deep dive.

Understanding NCAP rating: The Key to Safer Driving

NCAP rating is given to cars after employing rigorous crash tests, which actually mimic actual crash situations and evaluate various factors to measure how well safety features work and how strong the vehicle’s structure is. These NCAP ratings can help evaluate both child and adult occupancy safety.

Understanding NCAP rating: The Key to Safer Driving

Child Occupancy Safety

These assessments involve assigning ratings regarding the level of protection afforded to children occupants, thus exposing consumers to the way cars perform in these tests. The assessments involve the use of dummies representative of children of 18 months and 3 years sitting in child-safety seats recommended by the manufacturer during frontal collisions. The dummies are seated on ISOFIX child seats that are secured by ISOFIX mounts. Apart from looking at the results of the crash test, Global NCAP also assesses whether the instructions provided with the child safety seat and its fitting in the car are sufficiently clear to ensure proper fitting.

Adult Occupancy Safety

In this aspect, the safety of the adult occupants in the event of a collision is also tested and evaluated. Such tests include analyzing the strength of the car structure, the protection provided by airbags, manners of fastening the seatbelts, and measures for the whiplash effect. Other Safety assist features like ABS , and ESC are also tested. NCAP also determines how well a vehicle protects pedestrians, in the event of collision.
