And those who needed them would either go for the Innova or the Ertiga. Moreover, even with loads of advertising, people weren’t aware of the segment and would only look at the Innova as a benchmark. Although the Evalia was an excellent VFM MPV, it’s timing in the market just wasn’t.

   

2. Poor Design
   

   This is a pretty self-explanatory point. The Evalia just didn’t look very good, period. Even though it was supremely comfortable, had a lot of features, and was priced decently well, the looks turned away a lot of heads. Competition such as the Maruti Ertiga and the Innova looked much better than the Evalia and drove much more attention towards themselves. This is one of the major reasons why the Nissan Evalia failed in the Indian market.

   

3. Lack of Engine and Transmission Options
   

   Another reason why the Nissan Evalia failed in the Indian market was the lack of options. It only came with one diesel engine and a manual transmission. This wasn’t enough when the competition was offering multiple engines and transmission options. However, it did suit well for the Taxi segment, but the Evalia didn’t get much response from there either.
